2017 Smart Goals
Have you Identified your 2017 SMART goals and objectives? Answer this MONDAY BURNING QUESTION below.
When asked what is the 2017 goal of your business, many entrepreneurs say, “Get more business”. Yet, “get more business” is a vague response.
It’s an “unfocused” one, that, in my opinion, means you haven’t set any goals. You are just playing at being in business…and are not serious.
As a business owner, goal setting should be an important part of business planning.
For serious business owners, goal setting is an integral step in forecasting growth. Savvy entrepreneurs create SMART goals and objectives because they want clearly defined results.
.
To achieve these results, make plans that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-based.
This process removes the fuzzy, unfocused ideas. Results create an actionable strategy for a specified return.
Even though CEOs create BIG goals they may divvy them into sub-goals (or objectives). This process helps you achieve the goal. Each small goal can also use the SMART criteria which help achieve your BIG goal(s).
What are your 2017 SMART goals?
When establishing your SMART goal, you should determine if it is viable and actionable. To do this, you must understand what each step represents and how to apply them to your main goal(s).
* Specific – what is to be done, how will you know it is done, what are the results
* Measurable – how you know it meets expectations (quantity, frequency, costs, deadlines, etc.)
* Achievable – can it be done given the time frame, opportunity, and resources
* Relevant – should it be done, why, what will be the impact
* Time-bound – when will it be done, what are the end points, check points and milestones
Conduct a Review
It’s important to mention that you should review your accomplishments on a regular basis. Review and tweak them, if necessary. This process will also keep you focused and motivated while developing your 2017 SMART goals.
Also, celebrate your successes. If you have reached a milestone, congratulate yourself. Treat yourself to an ice cream cone or whatever floats your boat.
Bottom line, when you set S.M.A.R.T. goals and objectives, strive to meet them.
Check results along the way. In the end…the small successes can lead to the large one…the Big goal achievement that entrepreneurs want.
